Troop 58 is located at the base of the Texas Hill Country.
We are a very active troop with each patrol having a campout each month and quarterly troop campouts. We are one of the largest troops in the San Antonio area and this allows us the resources to do some exciting things.
In 2010, the unit sent three crews to Philmont; one crew to Northern Tier & 60 members to Buffalo Trails for summer camp. The troop went to Sid Richardson Scout Ranch near McKinney, Texas in the Summer, 2011. In 2012, one crew attended Philmont, & 40 scouts traveled to Camp Karankawa near Corpus Christi for summer camp.
In 2015, two crews attended Florida's Sea Base (one dive crew; one sail crew), four scouts went to Northern Tier in Ely, MN; and the troop traveled to Camp Hale SR in Talihina, OK for Summer camp. Two crews are registered for Philmont in 2016
We are dedicated to Operation First Class - which is a program that supports our newest scouts to achieve the rank of a First Class Scout by the first year.
Eagle Scouts are not only product of our troop. They are role models for our younger scouts, setting the standard for our troop. Over 100 scouts have achieved their Eagle Rank since 2000.
Due to our increasing size, the unit is only able to allow new scouts to enter our troop once a year (Feb-Mar); however transfer scouts are always welcome.
We are generously chartered by Bulverde United Methodist Church located between San Antonio and Bulverde. We meet in the Fellowship Hall at the church each Tuesday, at 7:00pm, unless otherwise noted. Feel free to come and visit us!
